EECG's Project Support Structure....
Since the inception of the C3 Initiative, all project awards are now by Invitation Only.
(Please do not send unsolicited applications for Grant funding.)
EECG Educational Support Structure
A small EECG amount of funding is reserved for individual current and former participants in our Applied EE Courses.
(Also not open for unsolicited applications.)
Note: Competition for small grants is an integral part of EECG's operating philosophy. During each course, we request that each participant prepare an issue-focused proposal. Based on these proposals, seed grants are awarded at the completion of every course. Integrating grant writing with coursework enables us to ascertain that important project planning and implementation strategies are being learned by the participants. This approach also allows us to provide funding for a few worthwhile projects when participants return home. Occasionally, small grants in the form of scholarships are also awarded competitively to prospective course attendees.
For questions on how to attend an International EE Course, send an email to emccrea@eecg.org .
The John Judy Memorial Fund was created to honor the memory of John M. Judy, an individual who dedicated his career to environmental education in the United States and abroad. Throughout John's career, he was known for his quiet competency, his positive approach to educational issues, and his willingness to take the time to listen. His hundreds of colleagues will testify that John was very effective in furthering the field in which he so firmly believed.
The Linda Karbonit Memorial Fund was established by EECG to honor Dr. Linda Karbonit who was a member of the EECG Board from the organization’s creation until her untimely death in July of 2007. In keeping with Dr. Karbonit’s areas of greatest interest, the Linda Karbonit Memorial Fund awards small grants in four main areas: Support for continuing education for women in environmental professions. Support for environmental medicine projects that include education as a focus. Support for small scale, particularly women-run, industries and economic activities that have the potential to ease the substance burden in villages near nature reserves. Support for wildlife conservation education efforts, particularly those that emphasize birds.
Much of EECG financial support originates from two main funding sources–The John Judy Memorial Fund and the Linda Karbonit Memorial Fund:
Criteria: For any and all awards, we support efforts that are innovative, have potential for replication, and reflect a substantial personal commitment to environmental quality. Criteria for the awards are simple, paperwork is minimal, and the spirit of John and Linda guide the selection.
